Ed Pepping-Easy Company Medic
Ed Pepping is a dear friend of the 101st Reenactors. Ed was a medic with Easy Company and is an original Taccoa man. He jumped into Normandy on D-Day with the rest of Easy Company and searched for the wounded and suffering that others had to ignore. His sense of duty is evident in his being awarded the Bronze Star for bravery.  On his way towards Dead Man's Corner, his friend Lt. William Turner came under fire while standing atop a tank turret. Ed rushed to his friends aid under fire and pulled him into a ditch. Unfortunately, Lt. Turner's wounds were mortal and he passed away. Nonetheless, Ed exemplified the spirit of the Taccoa Men who spearheaded the invasion of Normandy.

Ed is a frequent visitor to our barracks and can often be seen joking with the "young guys". When not keeping us entertained with his anecdotes, he can be found prowling around the grounds looking for a lady to charm.

During our visit to Normandy for the 60th Anniversary of D-day, a number of us took a moment to dedicate a plaque to our friend Ed. Here we are at spot where Ed earned his medal, just north of Dead Man's Corner. It was an honor to walk in Ed's footsteps.
